It is the process of sending messages to your previous or current customers in order to encourage them to do business with you again and in turn enhance your business relationship with them. E-mail marketing is also used to acquire new clients and convince your current customers to buy something at once.
There are several advantages in using this type of internet marketing. For one, almost all internet users have e-mail accounts that they check regularly. With this form of communication, advertisers can easily reach those who have signed up to receive regular communications regarding subjects that interests them. It is cost-effective and has a short impact time.
E-mail marketing can be categorized into three types: direct e-mail, intermediary e-mail and retention e-mail.
Direct e-mail usually is an email message with commercial sales content. They are usually sent to customers who have previously used a certain product or service or to potential clients in your target audience who might enjoy and benefit from the service you are offering. Direct mail marketing may make use of a company's e-mail list or a purchased or shared e-mail list or a list that is acquired from a third party service. These third party services may already know which audience can be target through e-mail marketing or they may conduct an analysis to find out which e-mail addresses will bring the highest conversion or responses for your business.
Retention e-mail or newsletter mail on the other hand, are designed and written for promotional use. They aim to provide a long-term impact to the customer's mind, thus, their content is more than a sales message. The retention mail specifies the benefits of the products or services that a company offers in a more informative format.
Intermediary e-mail is a message sent by a company delegated by the main provider to send out advertising and marketing e-mails to a list of subscribers that is usually owned by the intermediary company.
In order to be successful in e-mail marketing, you must always use all relevant information that is necessary for your business. You may send messages to your customers if you find that they will benefit from what you are about to offer them. In sending these e-mails, you must also write an informative and straight forward headline in order to grab your customer's attention. Before sending out your e-mail, check the message and use both text and HTML formats to make sure that your message will be received and read, or you may include options to view your mail in these formats.
Blog Marketing
Blogs have become one of the useful platforms for internet marketing. Subscribers of a blog usually sign up to receive content on a regular basis and since most subscribers remain loyal when they receive relevant and useful information, a strong following and readership will be a good way to reach these potential customers and get them to either sign up or purchase a service from your business. Blogs have continuously reached their targets most of the time, making them a very effective way to market one's services or products.

[Make Money with Gmail - $400+ Per Day? (Real Truth Revealed]
Indroduction:
Do you want to know if it's really easy to make money with Gmail and potentially a great way to earn more than $400 per day as some claims or if you would just be wasting your time? Then this video is for you. My name is Mikael and I tested hundreds of different ways to make money online.
And many viewers have asked me how to make money with Gmail because there's a lot of claims like that out there some that may look like it's a very fast way to earn hundreds of dollars per day. And let me just reveal right away that theoretically some of this could work but there's some very important details most people do not tell you about.
And that's why I decided to record this video to tell you exactly how it works and what you need to consider before you start using a method like this. So if you've been searching for easy ways to make money online, maybe you've been searching for how to make money with Gmail. And if you do that on YouTube, for example, you'll see there are a lot of claims for example more than $400 per day easily or you know like there's a lot of different like two dollars every 10 emails. You know, a lot of money basically a lot of claims about how easy
it is to make money with Gmail. The thing is that even though some of the method these videos and others are showing could theoretically work then there's just a lot of important details they do not tell you.
And that means you can potentially end up wasting a lot of time and in some cases even a lot of money without actually seeing any results. So that's why I decided to record this video because I want you to know what is realistic and how to do it correctly if you want to make money online so you do not end up wasting a lot of time without results. And therefore, I will go over a few different ways that I've seen people claim that you can easily make money with Gmail and then I will explain what might work how it might work and what you have to be very aware of so you don't waste your time and then we'll go over how you can actually really make
money online in the most effective way and what you can realistically expect. So let's start by going over one of the methods I have seen some people claim is a great way to make money with Gmail. And that method is that it is free to create Gmail accounts, you can just go and sign up create it, and then you can go to certain different micro job websites and sell Gmail accounts. There are people that are willing to buy Gmail accounts.
However this is a method that I would really encourage you not to do because people that are buying Gmail accounts that needs to be verified you know. You have no idea what they will be doing with it. And in most cases it will be something unethical or sometimes even illegal, you have no idea.
And you're using your own information to verify your Google account and then you sell it to someone you have no idea what they're doing. It goes against the terms of Google of course, against the terms of Gmail. You have no idea if you will end up to in trouble. So that's the first method.
This is just an outright, just don't do that. It will potentially just get you into a lot of trouble so that one is fairly easy to just say to stay away from. Remember there's a couple of other methods that have seen people say that you can easily use to make money with Gmail. So let's go over the pros of cons of those. So one way people say that you can potentially earn money with Gmail, it comes in a variety of different versions.
But the main idea is for example that you find a freelance platform like Fiverr that has an affiliate program, and an affiliate program means that you can get paid to send traffic there if people end up buying services, for example. So then what you would do is you would go to Fiverr you would find some jobs, you know that offer search engine optimization for example, uh ranking on Google then you would go on Google, for example in your local area and say like you know search for um you know the best cafe or the best hairdresser, and then in your city. And
then you would not be on the first page because the people that are there they already ranking, you would go to the second, third, or something like that. Find the people that don't get any organic traffic. You would contact them.
You would go to the website, contact them, and then you would send some information there. And say like we can help you to rank and then you would link to one of these jobs through the Fiverr affiliate program. And if people then end up buying it, then you would get a commission. And I understand why this theoretically can sound good. And just be aware this is just like kind of an example, this comes in different variations. It doesn't have to be Fiverr. It doesn't have to be you know local areas. But this is kind of the idea people say just find affiliate programs, do outreach like that. But yes, if people end up buying, you can potentially earn like that, you can also earn really good money with affiliate marketing. But what you need to consider is that companies like this get a lot of spam outreach emails.
And if you send from a Gmail, it just doesn't really add credibility. Because when it comes to something like this, you are trying to sell that it's a professional service, that you are not offering yourself actually and you send from a Gmail. I get a lot of outreach from Gmail accounts.
And in general, I know when it's from Gmail, it's usually people like this that actually have nothing to do with the product. They're just trying to find an easy way to make money and and drive traffic like that and it just doesn't work in most cases. You will just get deleted.
You have to be extremely lucky to get one conversion after sending hundreds of of emails, show the people that say oh just do this and then the hundreds of dollars will keep coming in. They're not making money like that themselves. They're making money by referring you to things and getting views from you because it will take a lot of effort and it's not a good way to earn.
And again you're not actually providing any quality, you're not providing any helpful info. You're just trying to go for quick fixes and in most cases, that will just not work. So even though you theoretically can make money like this, it's not a good long-term sustainable solution and you'll be struggling to just earn a tiny bit of money.
So one more method I have seen people say you can use Gmail easily to make money is to then join different affiliate programs, referral programs. So it's related to the previous method that I just talked about but in this case instead of reaching out to companies as such, you reach out to creators, meaning YouTubers, website owners instagrammers, whatever it can be.
And then you say to them like oh please promote my link or you say to them oh what about this blah blah blah blah and try to get them to promote your affiliate link. And then some people that talk about this as being a great method, they give you a script say like all this is a great script, you really convince them that you they should promote your link and then you'll maybe give them a small fee.
And you earn hundreds of dollars just for paying them fifty dollars for promoting and things like that. And again, this is people that are just talking to get views that are saying something like this for several reasoning. I'm a Creator myself. I have a website. I have a YouTube channel.
And I get a lot of spam annoying emails like this. And I even get like people just trying to spam their comment referral links in the comments action. And that of course also get blocked. That is spamming. But when you then try to convince other creators to you know for a small fee, ten dollars, whatever to promote your affiliate links per thousands of viewers, you know it's not gonna happen.
I can tell you that if it's a creator that knows what they're doing, of course they will not share your affiliate link for a tiny commission. And then you can earn hundreds of dollars if you find any creator that is willing to do that.
They don't have an audience that is real anyway so they don't know how to send traffic because if they did they would of course not just give hundreds of dollars away that just doesn't make sense. So you will just again be wasting your time by listening to advice people saying like just reach out to creators use this script blah blah blah then you can get them to promote your link for free. That's not how it works.
You will just annoy people with your spam and you will just get blocked and you'll just end up wasting your time. So how can you then make money online if you want to make $400 per day or something like that as some people claim you can with Gmail. Let's talk about that also what I would recommend based on my experience with making money online.
So to make it clear, $400 or more per day is realistic if you have an online business. And yes Gmail is a tool. Like most other tools, Google have some great tools you can use when you're making money.
But it's naive to think whether it's Google Docs, or Google, you know Gmail or whatever, it is that you can just easily you know use a tool like that and make hundreds of dollars per day. It is a tool but tools are meant to be used cleverly. And if you use tools cleverly in your business, it can help you a lot to become more effective.
But you need to know how to create a real business and stop chasing quick fixes from creators that make these exaggerated claims because it's just not gonna happen. You will just waste your time. So if you want to make good money online, you need to learn real skills, not quick fixes where you think that just sending emails from your Gmail account will make you automatically hundreds of dollars per day.
Find a method you want to focus on, learn the skills, take the time and the effort to learn the skills and yes that will take effort and in most cases it will also take a little bit of investment. Because you need to have proper training when you just follow these quick fixes. You will just waste time and I've seen people wasting years chasing these shiny objects by following creators with paid claims. And if they had spent that time actually learning real skills from someone that really knows what they're doing investing a little bit in themselves they would have achieved amazing results in a few years.
And instead, they have just seen no results just chasing around from one golden method to the next, getting rich quick, chase, not seeing any results. So take the time choose a method, choose a course that can teach you the right method, be willing to invest in a bit because if not you shouldn't expect to get quality training that's how it is quality education will cost money.
That's how it is. But you can learn real skills and can build a real online business then focus on that. Choose whether you want to learn blogging, youtubing, want to be an influence, you want to learn Instagram, whatever it is. But choose a method, find a course that will work for that that you trust, read reviews about it, learn about it, and then put in time and effort.
Do not expect to earn hundreds of dollars within a few months. That is not going to happen. Be realistic. That's the most important thing when it comes to making money online. And then you can eventually see great results. But if you're chasing to become rich quick then just stop looking because you will just end up getting scammed and wasting your time. I do have some info on my website about the exact steps that I have taken to create a real online business. It is not for everyone. As mentioned, you need to be willing to put in a lot of time and a lot of effort and also be willing to invest in proper training to do that. But I have some info that shows exactly how I have done that.

[Tab for a Cause Review - Earn $0.01 Per Click for Charity]
In the ever-expanding world of online earning opportunities, one platform, Tab for a Cause, stands out for its unique approach. It promises to pay you $0.01 per click, but there's a twist - you're not earning for yourself; you're earning for a charitable cause. In this Tab for a Cause review, we'll explore how this system works, whether it's worth your time, and how your clicks can make a difference in the world.

Do you want to know how he potentially can earn one cent per click with Tap for a Cause and if it's really worth it? Then this video is for you. My name is Mikael and I've tested hundreds of different ways to make money online. And many of you have asked me about this particular option.
And therefore, I decided to test it and in this Tab for a Cause review, I will show everything it has to offer so you know exactly what to expect and whether this is the right opportunity for you or not. So let's start by going over who can join and Tab for a Cause is an extension for Chrome. So first of all you need to use Chrome to be able to earn from it.
Secondly, I have not been able to find a list of the exact countries it's available in but from what I can see it is available in a lot of different countries. But the exact earning opportunities that can vary like how much you can earn depending on the country you live in.
But we'll go over exactly how that works and then you will understand more about this. So let's now go over how to earn with Tab for a Cause. So you need to first add it to Chrome. So you just go to the website click to add it to Chrome then install it. It takes like you know 15 seconds or something like that.
And then the idea is that every time you open a new tab on your computer or in your browser, you will earn. So the browser will then start looking a little bit different because it will look something like this here. You will just have the time here and then you will see overall the earnings that people have earned here and then you will see hearts. Because you earn hearts every time you do this.
So this is how basic this, you see, 27 then I open a new tab here and you see then I will have now.It just loads there and it will count 28. Now I have 28 and then there's ad showing. And this is why we can earn because there are ads showing. And this is how it is every time you open a new tab you will just earn one heart. We'll go over the value of that a little bit later. And you can also actually change the background here here if you want the different picture, specific pictures, your own or something like that. You can adjust that in your profile settings.
There is also one more way to earn you can see here there is a little like video icon there. And then you can watch a video and earn 100 Hearts. But right now there are no available videos. I'm assuming this also depends on the country you live in. I have tested this for for several days now and on and off and I have not yet had an available video.
You can earn quite a lot more by watching these videos. I'm assuming it's some kind of ad videos but you know it's it's definitely faster than just opening new tabs if you can earn 100. But if you actually tried it and you've been able to watch these videos, please share below what type of videos it was, how long they were, which countries you live in, that would be great to hear.
But you can just be aware that that's there if you decide to use this option then you can you know just check this once in a while and see if it should be available. You can also earn by inviting others. And if you do that, you will get 350 Hearts per person that you actually invite that ends up using Tab for a Cause. But what is the most important to know about this Tab for a Cause is of course how much the hearts are worth. But even more importantly how these earnings can be used. Because this is where Tab for a Cause, as the name suggests, is a little bit unusual. So let's talk about that next.
Sure you can see that I have some hearts that I have earned and then I can go here to see my settings and that's where I can donate Hearts. Because as the name suggests, Tab for a Cause is about charity. It's all about charity.
You can see here they they say also they've actually been featured on some really big sites also. Some popular websites there and this is because the whole project is based on donating to charity. You can choose yourself how you want to donate, what you want to donate to out of the partners they have. They also do have another platform where you can kind of earn also by searching and earn for charities you call like Search for a Cause. I do have a video about that I'll leave a link in the top corner if you want to know more about that. But overall, you can see I just go here and donate. So um I think this is great that they actually do these things for for charities. But if you are interested in earning for yourself, then this is not the right option for you. Then I do have a video about the best ways to earn by watching videos. I'll leave a link to that below then. So then you can check that out where you can take out your earnings for yourself.
But if you would like to donate to charity and actually not even having to put in much effort, you're just using your computer as you usually would and you don't have to actually invest anything, then this can be an option.
And you can see all I need to do here is to for example go through here see which ones do I think that I want to to support. So let's say I I want to donate my 28 then I click here and then I had donated my 28 hearts. I can't choose just part of it. So if you want to you know donate some of it to some, so then you need to go here regularly and donate.
But then I have donated these 28 Hearts. But how much are these Hearts worth let's talk about that also. So I think that one thing is that is lacking for Tab for a Cause that they make it more transparent what the exact value of these hearts are. Because you can't see that.
I had to dig because I couldn't find anything in the settings or anything. But if you go to the FAQ section they have some information because they say that it varies greatly. But a single tab in single click where you open a new tab there it raises between one tenth of a Cent and one cent. So this is you know what it is you can earn up to one cent actually per opening it to charities. But you don't know exactly.
And I don't know exactly what it it varies on. I'm assuming that it depends also on the country you live in. If it's a country where there's a lot of advertisers, I'm assuming it generates more or raises more.
Also I don't know like what they get paid for the ads, how much of it goes to active charities and how much of it goes to the company and the people behind. Like, I would like some more information about that. You can of course go here and see the financials and see the impact there and read more about it.
I just think that that would be information that I would love to have only available so I could see exactly you know what are my tabs or clicks worth, how much of it goes to charity, how much of it goes to administration or to the company behind. And so you know that's just my personal opinion. I think it would be great with a little bit more transparency like that. So overall Tab for a Cause can be a way to earn to charities, not for yourself. That's very important to understand. If you think that is something you're interested in, they have a lot of great causes you can donate to. So then it's an easy way to do it without investing. You can just use your computer every time you open a new tab.
You will earn a little bit that you can then choose to donate to the charity that you want to support. So I think it is great in that aspect. But of course, if you mainly want to earn for yourself, then this is not the right option. Then there are other ways you can earn where you can choose to donate to charity or choose to take it out to yourself. Then you should go for those instead.
I think Tab for a Cause is a good idea. There is some more information that I would have preferred that they have shared so I knew exactly what I earned, how much of it goes to charities, all these things there. But you know ,that's just something that that's my personal opinion.

"Sherri Papini Released Early: A Look at Recent Developments and California's Ongoing Challenges"

Night onto the point. Fentanyl is the reason my daughter is not here. A teen's life is cut short. A mom is arrested as district attorneys go after fentanyl which leads to a death. More Californians are presented with limited insurance options. What state Republicans say needs to be fixed. This affects all ratepayers in California.
It affects all Californians and cleaning Lake Tahoe with robots. Tonight, a father is grieving. He lost his teen daughter to fentanyl after he says a friend's mom gave her a pain pill with a deadly dose of the drug. And now that mom is in jail and more and more we're seeing district attorneys go after people suspected of supplying the fentanyl that leads to a death.
Becca Ha Beggar has this dad's message for all of us. I got a pedicure down with the girls cuz I got to do those things Heff Dawkins says The girl he considered a daughter, 15-year-old Kamaria Evans, will always be in his heart. She's not my biological child. I just raised her from her first steps and he wears his heart on his sleeve.
This is my tattoo of me and my girls and on his shirt and his wrist. These are actually her ashes in there. In July of 2020, Kamaria went to her girlfriend's house and experienced menstrual cramps. So Dawkins says the girlfriend's mom offered Kamaria half a pain pill that turned out to contain fentanyl, enough to end Kamaria's life.
And as far as what I was told, she laid down. I never woke up. Dawkins received a middle-of-the-night phone call from the woman. Her words were I don't know what happened. Kamaria is not breathing. She's already on her way to the hospital. Dawkins rushed to his daughter's side in time to see The medical staff tried to revive her, but she was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival.
I would never wish this type of pain on anyone because it's not something that you can get over at any point in time. You have to live with that, he says. The autopsy shows Kamaria died of fentanyl poisoning. The Sacramento Police Department tells ABC10 that the county coroner's office alerted them that Kamaria's death was suspicious. Now the woman accused of giving Kamaria that half a pill, Stephanie Bugs, is facing a felony charge of child endangerment. Bugs was arrested back in February. Keep in mind, that Kamaria died just over three years ago. So why did it take so long to make the arrest? A Sacramento County District Attorney, TN Ho, explains.
Building a case involving fentanyl is not simple. Sometimes we're working the investigation on the front side of it in terms of before the individual is arrested. We're building that case. We're going through the phones, we're going through search warrants, We're talking to witnesses. Stephanie Bugs is in jail pending the outcome of her case and is next to in court on September 28th, though Dawkins says there's nothing the criminal justice system can do to satisfy him.
What I would want is for no more parents to have to go through what I'm going through. That's the only victory for me. I think a lot of parents would agree with that, right? Becca? Becca Hobegger joins us now. Becca, what else is being done about this crisis? You know, Alex, for one more Das are cracking down on fentanyl dealers and providers.
You know, just last month a Plaster County man was the first person in the state to be convicted of murder and a fentanyl death. That's from a 2022 case that killed another 15 year old girl. Also thanks to settlement money from opioid manufacturers, more than $7,000,000 are coming to Sacramento County. That's according to county health officials who tell me it will be spent on things like outreach, education and prevention.
And Narcan is really another important tool to help fight this as well right called the miracle drug. Yes, we cannot say this enough. Narcan or the generic naloxone is an opioid overdose reversal drug. It's administered and easy to use, no spray. And it's now available over the counter at pharmacies. A medical professionals you've interviewed tell us they want everyone to add this to their first aid kit now. Yeah.
And if people do use this, you still need to call 911. So very important tip there. Becca. Thank you so much. All right. Sherry Papini is now out of federal prison several months early. The Northern California mother was convicted last year for faking her own kidnapping. Search teams looked for her for weeks. She was sentenced to 18 months in prison.
Papini is either now under house arrest or in a halfway house, and a decommissioned fire truck is being driven around Sacramento and spraying water Tonight. Sacramento police say that they found the people responsible and let them know the rules of owning one of these trucks. They are not illegal to own, but there are rules that must be followed.
An Independence Day celebration for Ukraine is happening at the Capitol tonight. Our region is home to one of the largest populations of Ukrainian refugees in the United States. Companies are changing the way they do business because of wildfires, storms, and the rising cost of repairs.
And now Senate Republicans are calling on California's Insurance commissioner to do more to help people. They say that the insurance industry is broken and only Ricardo Lara has the power and responsibility to fix it. Look, let's face it. This is not a Democrat versus Republican issue in California. This affects all ratepayers in California.
It affects all Californians. Senate Minority Leader Brian Jones is one of seven Republican state senators calling on California Commissioner Ricardo Lara to fix the home insurance crisis. One of the things that you know we could do right away is begin new developments. Areas that are developed and no longer fire danger get them removed.
We need to do a better job of getting their rates adjusted appropriately, Senator Jones says. Just today three people called him saying they're running out of options, a business owner, that their business, property, and home are being impacted by these rates from a constituent that lives out in the east county that their entire neighborhood had been dropped by each of their different homeowners insurances and have had to go on the fair plan.
State Republicans say the legislature has failed to act for years. There have been conversations about forest thinning and rate adjustments but were ultimately shot down either by the governor or the Democratic leadership in the legislature. We reached out to Commissioner Lara's office to get a response to the letter, The office responded with the statement saying in part, Commissioner Lara's top priority is making insurance available across California within a competitive and stable marketplace.
He is already taking action to modernize our market with the nation's first insurance discounts for wildfire safety and other long-term fixes. The California Senate Republicans Caucus invited Commissioner Laura to speak with them in the next couple of weeks before the winter recess. No word yet on if Laura has accepted the invitation and new developments.
A company that mysteriously bought land for years and now owns these 52,000 acres surrounding Travis Air Force Base has apparently been identified. A Flannery Associates consultant tells us investors are a group of who's who in Silicon Valley and their intentions are to create a new city. Congressman John Garamendi has taken issues with these land purchases.
As a member of the Armed Services Committee, he's called on the military to investigate these purchases. So we caught up with the Congressman this afternoon. This story is not over. We also know that this organization has left a very, very bad reputation in Solano County. Five years of secrecy, refusing to reveal what was going on, and frankly very strong-armed mobster-type tactics to force landowners to sell their land. The company bought these parcels of land from farmers paying much more than the market price. Flannery Associates also tells us quote we care deeply about the future of Solano County and California and believe their best days are ahead. We are proud to partner on a project that aims to deliver access to good-paying jobs, affordable housing, clean energy, sustainable infrastructure, open space, and a healthy environment to residents of Solano County.
We are excited to start working with residents and elected officials as well as with Travis Air Force Base on making that happen. Next on to The Point homeowners reporting thefts at their nearby target. The issue Costing all of us a much cooler day today with temperatures in the upper 80s and low 90s, but it has been a roller coaster of a month.
But temperatures ranging from 82 to 105, what you can expect this weekend and how hot it may get. And using technology to make sure what happened at Lake Tahoe over the 4th of July weekend holiday does not happen again. All right, It was a beautiful day outside. How's the weekend looking? Hopefully just as good. Yeah, we had tolerable temperatures today, upper 80s, low 90s, just kind of nice to be outside, not too hot, but things are going to gradually change for the weekend with temperatures increasing into the mid to upper 90s but right
now in the big mountain backyard. Take advantage of the temperatures in the mid-80s this evening as you're heading out maybe to a Friday Night Football game or to dinner in Marysville at 90 degrees, 72 right now in Tahoe with some cloud coverage. Now the 24-hour temperature change ranges anywhere from 2 to 8 degrees cooler than it was yesterday at this time from the foothills through the valley.
So definitely feeling that cool down warm and dry through next week. But we're seeing temperatures ranging from 90 to 100 degrees, a light delta breeze moving in with that low-pressure system just offshore, fires burning in northern portions of California and Southern Oregon that's rotating some of that smoke over that low and funneling it into Northern California, Sacramento Bay Area and even into Tahoe.
As you can see here with our smoke moving into our evening hours, you just see it just off the coastline there and then into Saturday starting to make its way in as we see mostly for the Tahoe area here, but into Sunday starting to push this way from the Bay towards Sacramento just a bit. So maybe a few people who are just sensitive to smoke in general may find this a little unhealthy.
Otherwise moderate. So not too bad out there as we see some of the winds 10 to 15 mph in the valley again on Saturday as well and then on Sunday we start to see things slowing down. Sunday into Monday as temperatures start to heat up. You see this big Dome of high pressure here over areas of the central US from Texas over toward the desert southwest that will start moving its way toward us.
That low pressure that's currently bringing as cool air will move over us and in place, we'll see some upper 90s triple digits. But by Labor Day weekend things could be changing as we start to see a bit of a cool down headed our way. Upper 90s as we start off the work week with maybe that triple-digit temperature there for your Wednesday and upper 90s Thursday.
Then we drop off into the following weekend Labor Day weekend in the 80s to low 90s with partly sunny skies. It looks like it's going to be a nice time to be outside. Next to the Point, retail theft is costing us all what's being done about it. Retail theft in California and across the country is costing us.
Retailers say this type of crime is reaching unprecedented levels, forcing the average family to pay an estimated $500 more each year on purchases. And this has been a growing problem since the pandemic. And thieves are getting bold. Our Devon Truby shows us how homeowners are taking matters into their own hands.
Brazen, blatant buyers beware. This is what recently happened at the Target store off-Broadway in the Land Park neighborhood of Sacramento. A man walks out the side door with a card full of stolen items. You can hear the siren triggered by the man using the side door going off. You know it's brazen. Land Park residents are taking it upon themselves to record these steps.
The Sacramento Police Department says they received a call about the theft but did not send an officer to investigate this week. Target has a hands-off policy so they don't stop people from exiting with stolen items. They don't. When I've reported issues that I've seen in the past, they have no desire to report it to the police, Target said in a statement to ABC10.
We are actively working with city officials, law enforcement, and retail industry partners to advocate for public policy solutions to combat theft and organized retail crime. But as Rachel Michelin, president of the California Retailers Association, tells us, those policy solutions failed. This year no amendments were made to Prop 47.
People will come into stores, they steal under that $950 threshold, and there's zero consequence for the behavior, Michelin says. There are also no consequences for repeat offenders. We now we're working on a grant program for local law enforcement to give them some more resources to deal with retail theft.
But fundamentally we need changes to the law. Exporting Goods just blamed an increasingly serious theft problem at its stores for a 23 drop, 23% drop in its profits overall. The California Retailers Association says they are open to pursuing other outlets, like diversion programs for those committing crimes.

Mayor Steinberg is now proposing a half-cent sales tax on the 2024 ballot that would raise about $9 billion over the next 40 years.
He says it would be invested directly into a countywide Housing Trust fund, public transportation, and safer streets. About 1/3 of it would be going to affordable housing, and it's up to Sacramento voters to decide whether or not they're on board. Mortgage rates are now at an A2 decade high. The average 30-year fixed mortgage now comes with an interest rate of about 7.23%.
Higher rates are making it harder for the housing market to pull out of its current slowdown. According to the Mortgage Bankers Association, applications for mortgages are at their lowest since 1995. Many Northern Californian families are finding themselves working full-time but still struggling to make ends meet.
So next week on To the Point. Reporter Becca Ha Becker sits down with people in Solano County who make too much money to qualify for low-income assistance programs, but not enough money to pay the bills. And they're not alone. the United Way of California says that about a third of all households in California do not earn enough income to meet basic needs.
It's just virtually impossible for a single income to make it anywhere here. I have a good job. I make a decent wage. It doesn't keep up with the rise in inflation. What am I going to do? See what one lawmaker is doing to try to correct this problem and why. He says California's minimum wage has a flaw stretching back to its creation more than a century ago.
(15:19) That's next Thursday onto the point. It's 22 miles long and 12 miles wide. Lake Tahoe has more than 40 beaches along its shoreline. Chief Meteorologist Monica Wood shows us how new technology is helping keep Tahoe blue. For some, it's a bucket list destination Lake Tahoe. As the number of visitors grows, so do the harmful impacts.
More and more organizations are turning to robots to help keep the beaches and water clean. Lake Tahoe is a world-renowned vacation destination, from skiing and snowboarding in the winter to summer recreation in the crystal clear blue water. Extra people, though, can mean extra trash. Posing a threat to Tahoe's fragile ecology, Tahoe is more in demand than ever.
The more people who enjoy the lake, the more the impacts we're seeing. The status quo for protecting the lake is no longer enough. Working alongside Eco Clean Solutions, they're bringing in robots like the B Bot to clean beaches and now the Pixie Drone to clean the lake. The Pixie Drone picks up both aquatic invasive weeds, and it also picks up small pieces of litter or small pieces of plastic, Laura says It's kind of like a Roomba for Lake Tahoe collecting trash and also recording data to help find ways to keep Tahoe blue We're working on different solutions to really make sure that what happened on the 5th of July never happens again in terms of the impacts from litter. If you're looking for a way to get involved, they'll have a clean-up at Kings Beach Recreation Area on Labor Day. Next on to the point riding the so-called Smoky Beast in the Yosemite Mountain.
Every Friday John Bartel takes us on the back roads. Tonight John goes to the edge of Yosemite for a ride through a sugar pine forest on a historic lodging train. Take a look just outside the gates of Yosemite National Park. A smoke-billowing beast makes daily trips through the Sugar Pine Forest in the town of Fish Camping.
The beast is known as Engine #10A Steam powered Shea Locomotive All aboard and for the price of a ticket you can ride the smoky beast that Yosemite Mountain Sugar Pine Railroad. This engine specifically was built in 1928. She is 95 years old. Conductor Karen Bradshaw doesn't like to brag, but she's one of the few people in the world still conducting the very rare Shay locomotive.
I know that there are only about 20 to 30 Shea locomotives left in the world. What sets the Shay apart from other locomotives are the vertical Pistons and the very noticeable gears connecting to the wheels. Shays are virtually 12-wheel drive. That extra traction allows the shade to climb steep hills and weave through turns.
Unfortunately, though, it also made the locomotive slow, so they were in the lumber bits inside the railroad business, so they weren't made to go fast, about 15 miles an hour. Ed me is the engineer, he says. On top of the shade being slow, it's also hot. Today the steam engine is fueled by motor oil but originally ran off wood, which inadvertently put out a lot more heat in this small engine room and on summer day you get to 135 in here if you're here in the engine room.
Yet you probably needed a lot of deodorant that you were sweating a lot. Probably the powerful and hot shades were necessary for the logging operations in this area. Much like the mighty Redwood or the girthy Sequoia, the old-growth sugar Pines in this area were massive. From 1899 to 1931, the Madera Sugar Pine Company used the Shea engines to transport trees to the mill, about 1.5 billion board feet worth.
If we had it stacked up next to us, that rough-cut lumber, we would be able to lay it around the Earth's equator and go around the world 11 times during the Great Depression. Then diminishing glumber supplies ultimately put an end to logging in this area. Today tourists can enjoy the regrowth of the once clear-cut forest and they're welcome to bring along their furry friends.
We are pet-friendly dogs. Ride for free and after your excursion, be sure and stop at the logging museum. You can learn what a steam donkey is and you can look at a section of the 54-mile-long flume that also transported lumber to the mill from the Yosemite Mountain Sugar Pine Railroad. I'm John Bartel.
